about

This album started off as a deception. I wanted to deceive people with its contents and subject matter. I was listening to pop music in the beginning and wanted to write something that fucked people up! I started writing the album, almost immediately after finishing the mixing process for “Gr0und Z3r0”, I gave it a couple of days, and then began writing! I can’t quite remember when I stopped the mixing process for “Gr0und Z3r0”, but I literally worked on “Fuck Your Pop!” since the end of that process... I think I spent about 3ish months writing it, but the majority of it was written and recorded during the week of July 22nd/2022 to August 1st/2022.

Despite the album being something deceptive, there were a lot of celebrations and partying during the writing and recording process, I spent almost every night the week of July 22nd to August 1st sipping on some gin or having a bit of a toke, sometimes both... It is a bit of a party album.

What were my intentions when writing this album? At the time, I was listening to pop music, and it was making me very angry. The same production values, the same sounding music, the shallow nature of it... it just really pissed and still pisses me off! It (pop music) at the time, reminded me of a lot of the mindless drivel of christian pop music... granted the subject matter is slightly different, but it was making me very angry.

Pop music is popular music, and appeals to a larger general audience. I get that there may not be too much thought, and tends to be very shallow, sometimes purposefully manufactured that way to make money. Other times, just made cause the artist or songwriter who has made it... is literally that fuckin shallow... or hasn’t really looked into their darker side, or is generally afraid to look deeper, and understand their whole-selves. I also understand, industrial music, or post-industrial music is transgressive. It’s not meant to be appealing to everyone. It’s meant to be on the edges of culture and sub-culture... darker.

So, what if I took some pop-elements... and then fucked them up! Cutting and re-arranging the pop structures into something fucked up, noisy and loud! This is what “Fuck Your Pop!” is! Fuck your shallow bullshit, fuck it up and look deeper! Life is too short to not be yourself, too short to not truly know yourself!

FUCK YOUR POP!
